DME Award Ceremony 2013

The 7th edition of the DME Award took place in Katowice, Poland a vibrant industrial town in the Southern Polish region of Silesia. With a design supportive regional government and a lively and energetic design community Katowice gave a warm welcome to all DME Award 2013 participants.
This year’s DME Award Ceremony was embedded into the international two-day Service Design Conference “DESIGN… AT YOUR SERVICE! HOW TO GET STARTED?”.
On the 12th of December the DME Award Winners and Honourable Mentions were proudly presented to an audience of 200 guests in Katowice’s landmark “Rondo Sztuki – Eye of the City”. This popular space with an amazing view over the city centre provided the perfect environment for yet another inspiring evening with the DME Award.
The newly designed and 3D printed DME Awards and Honourable Mentions were presented to 18 organisations such as GlaxoSmithKline, Camper and Procter & Gamble in six categories for their innovative and effective Design Management strategies in Europe, in which design plays a key role in their business strategies. For the first time, this included a category for international businesses located outside of Europe.
Amongst the speakers were Iwona Wendel (Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development), Mirosław Sekuła (Marshal of the Voivodeship) and the world renowned Design Management researcher Brigitte Borja de Mozota.
