DME AWARD CEREMONY 2011
Location: Tallinn, Estonia
Date: 23rd of September 2011
The 5th edition of the DME Award was held in the Estonian capital of Tallinn. The DME Award Ceremony took place as a central event in the Innovation Festival “IF… Tallinn”. A wide range of design presentations, workshops, seminars and exhibitions, including a greatly attended exhibition of the DME Award nominees, turned Tallinn into a true “design” capital.
From a wide range of outstanding DME Award submissions from companies such as Heineken, Caetano Bus and Vestel, five DME Award Winners and 11 Honourable Mentions for 2011 were proudly presented at the DME Award Ceremony. Appropriate to the DME Award’s first anniversary, the ceremony was hosted at the extraordinary and inspiring KUMU (Art Museum Estonia) in Tallinn.
The award ceremony kicked off with a performance by the well-known Estonian saxophone player Villu Veski, followed by speeches from Lisbeth Bahl-Poulsen (Senior Policy Officer of the European Commission, 2011), Juhan Parts (Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications, 2011) and Deborah Dawton (President of BEDA, 2011).
Pärtel Vurma (Velvet Creative Alliance, Honourable Mention 2011)
“It is such a great honour to be among such highly recognised people.”
Wolfgang Pichler (Viteo Outdoors, DME Award Winner 2011)
“We have been working since years with different designers and we have had design always in our company profile. It is a real honour to have this award.”
Jean Schneider (President of the DME Award, 2011)
“The Design Management Europe Award is an award that celebrates the integration of design into businesses. The core message of this award is that there is no too small or too big business, there is no sector and there is no activity that cannot afford a good Design Management strategy.”
