The 5th edition of the DME Award was held in the Estonian capital of Tallinn. The DME Award Ceremony took place as a central event in the Innovation Festival “IF… Tallinn”. A wide range of design presentations, workshops, seminars and exhibitions, including a greatly attended exhibition of the DME Award nominees, turned Tallinn into a true “design” capital.

From a wide range of outstanding DME Award submissions from companies such as Heineken, Caetano Bus and Vestel, five DME Award Winners and 11 Honourable Mentions for 2011 were proudly presented at the DME Award Ceremony. Appropriate to the DME Award’s first anniversary, the ceremony was hosted at the extraordinary and inspiring KUMU (Art Museum Estonia) in Tallinn.

The award ceremony kicked off with a performance by the well-known Estonian saxophone player Villu Veski, followed by speeches from Lisbeth Bahl-Poulsen (Senior Policy Officer of the European Commission, 2011), Juhan Parts (Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications, 2011) and Deborah Dawton (President of BEDA, 2011).
