Case summary:
A company growing steadily by combining humour, creativity and talent was founded in 1994 by Dirk Wynants who acquired a failing trailer manufacturing company and used it as the foundation for the successful furniture production operation that exists today. The first furniture product was Gargantua, an innovative, exterior bench and table combination with seating that converts into additional table top area if required. Over time additional collections were introduced leading to the extensive range available today. The company is following a Growth strategy and to support this it places emphasis on New product development. Using both Internal and External Design talent the company has created “a transparent work atmosphere” where mutual confidence prevails.Products are durable and environmentally sound and a Process of continual improvement of existing Products is undertaken. Design of the Products is undertaken by Dirk Wynants plc and External designers such as Xavier Lust and Danny Venlet. Designs go to Extremis who then organises manufacture, distribution and marketing. It is a successful and thriving company.

Design house Extremis of Gijverinkhove in West Flanders is doing well. The company is posting riveting results and growing steadily thanks to its creative talent, humour and striking branding. Be seen is the message or: the gentle power of the designer smile.

There are few companies where visitors are immediately parked under a parasol with a strong espresso in front of them. No sterile customs at Extremis, rather a reception by the Gargantua table, which has already become an icon.
